The Uganda Bikers was founded in 2000 as a non-profit organisation with the objectives of promoting the enjoyment of owning and riding motorcycles, awareness of road safety and charity services. The Association has current membership of over 30 members, both Ugandans and resident expatriates. Over the years the Uganda Bikers have been actively promoting HIV Aids prevention by carrying the message of abstinence, behavior change and condom use to the far corners of Uganda as well as to neighboring African countries. In the above mentioned campaign we have taken own the fight against CANCER.
In 2004, the Ministry of Health dubbed UB the “Ambassadors of Hope”.UB membership is made up of a unique blend of foreigners and Ugandans, both males and females who share the passion for riding and the love of motorcycles. The current members are from Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, South Africa, Sudan, Sweden, Uganda, UK and USA.
Uganda Bikers is seeking your support towards our 2016 – 2017 Cancer Awareness Campaign Rides. We believe cancer has affected every one of us in different ways and this is an opportunity for us joins hands to spread the message and sensitize the communities in which live about cancer. As an association our members ride through various communities in which their huge motorcycles attract people creating a platform for the communities to interact with riders as they share various messages.
2016 – 2017 Cancer Awareness Campaign Rides
These are series of scheduled rides across the country and the African continent; the campaign will kick-off with local rides around Uganda and into Kenya, and later cover Southern Africa countries. The Cancer Campaign Rides will be used as a fundraising platform through which partners will contribute to the cause through supporting the rides. This campaign will cover a total of 13,400KM on road. Participating riders will range from 15 riders and above throughout the scheduled rides. The type of motorcycles include BMW, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, KTM among others, the Cubic capacity of the motorcycles are 650cc and above.
In every town we stop, our huge motorcycles shall attract large numbers of locals giving us an opportunity to deliver the message about Cancer and endorse the various partners who have made it possible. In the destination towns selected hospitals will be visited and donations of pre-identified needs shall be made as a gesture towards the fight against cancer with the help of our partners.
